Hi all,
Well the 2010 camp is done and dusted, hope you all had a great time.
This year’s awards went to:
Senior Troop - Yellow
Senior Rider - Oliver Burgun
Junior Troop - Orange
Junior Rider - Lucy Fanning
I think a few thankyous are in order, firstly thanks to the riders for their participation it’s your camp and I think most of us adults just come along for sore feet a good feed and to keep the camp fires burning (especially those ladies form Crookwell).
Secondly thanks to everyone who helped organise and run the camp, it’s a huge team effort and we call on a big team, from kitchen and cleaning helpers to troop leaders, instructors etc, etc, some lend a little assistance and some lend a lot, so at the risk of forgetting somebody, I will single a few individuals out for special mention.
Janine Stamatalis as usual had the camp kitchen humming and I am sure you will agree we were all well feed, Steve Burgun put in many hours getting the camp up and running, without Steve I am not sure we would have had a camp, Brett Hart donated the hay and made himself available for coaching polocrosse and campdrafting as well as providing and transporting the cattle, so without the massive effort of these three the camp would have really struggled.
Our Zone president Steve Hannan, as usual was on hand when any jobs needed to be done as was Rob Post who divided his time between troop leading and odd jobs, Danny Cummins transported panels from Taralga for the yards, Col and Hugh did a great job with this year’s stockman’s challenge. Brad Jones and John and Sue Edlund didn’t have kids at camp but were still kind enough to lend a very obliging hand. Then there is the legend that is Don MacDonnell, 84 and still going strong. I am sure I have forgotten someone, thanks to everyone who helped in whatever capacity, without willing helpers camp wouldn’t happen.
It would also be remiss of me not to thank a few people outside the pony club family, the panels provided by the Taralga Australia Day Committee are greatly appreciated, as were the loan of panels from the Australian Stockyard Company, Mitavite sponsored the pellets at a very cheap rate and Fifes Stockfeed’s also gave us a very good deal on the chaff, I am sure Janine could list a dozen businesses that helped keep the costs down, and I would ask that you thank them by supporting those local businesses that have helped us out.
As I mentioned at the start, Camp is all about young people enjoying their love of horses, and we adults just supply the support for their fun. The feedback we have had so far is that the camp was great, but this has mostly come from adults. Below is a link to an online survey which only takes a couple of minutes, I would ask that everyone who attended camp, please do the survey (it can be done multiple times from one PC, if there was more than one person attending) so that we can ensure that we are giving the riders what they want.
I look forward to seeing you all again throughout the year.
Cheers
